At 9:34 a.m. this morning my Father was pronounced dead at Doctor's Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
His heart stopped. Mine is not doing so well right now, either.
I have his Texas A&M class ring sitting next to me.
I am in complete shock.
He was my hero, and one of the most decent human beings ever born.
I feel like this isn't real.
He woke up to have his Raisin Bran, and had a heart attack, and died.
Please say a prayer for me, and for my family.
random bits
Just a brief howdy to say that things are loopy around these parts. (Not just my normal state of existence, mind you.)
My computer is in Memphis. Let's hope mamaboard isn't fried. God knows a small break would be appreciated.
You all should know by now that I love Elvis Costello. He's got a new album out called "My Flame Burns Blue". Simply amazing. Pinch me. (fyi - you can watch/listen [Music Clip 3] to one of my favorite cuts, "God Give Me Strength", and you'll get goose-bumps. Seriously.) There's also a great version of "Watching The Detectives", etc.
Donald Fagen's new c.d. ("Morph The Cat") is also out (you can listen via the link). I'm a big fan, and this is on my wish-list. He doesn't put out solo stuff very often, but it's always such cool, happy music (even if the subject matter is dark.)
There's been a lot of good music coming out. Anything anyone out there would recommend? What are you listening to?
sex, sex, sex!!
Hi. For the wee few sticking around, it's not that I don't have exciting stuff to blog about, it's just - well - you know, things happen that curtail me from sweet internet time. (You know how much I value that.)
Things like computer problems. My AC adapter for my laptop (A Dell Inspiron 5160 for you geeks out there) has gone willy wonka on me. The screen flashes, and it goes from AC to battery, etc. I can keep it turned on if I wiggle it *just right*, and then hold it firmly. As soon as I let go it gets "unhappy".
A-hem
For the record, I know - it's not a Mac. Does anything ever go wrong with those?
Needless to say it's frustrating, and it naturally happened 3 months after my warranty expired. I spent days on the phone with a Dell tech person who informed me it was either a) the AC adapter, or b) something is wrong with the motherboard. I can ship it back to Dell, they can do a scan, and do a simple fix for $179. If it is the motherboard, it's closer to $500.
Great.
The thing I wonder is when the tech folks get my computer, do they go through any of my personal stuff? Look through my photos (no, there's no nude pics of me, just fairly boring stuff, but still...), check out my links, etc.? Should I delete certain links on my computer (which, for the record, I have no idea how that got on my laptop, and - if that Purebliss thing is still pictured on the home page, does anyone else think it looks like the Starship Enterprise?)?
Anyway - just minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things. I'm also trying to take care of my sick Dad, keep the entire world safe, happy, and healthy, and sneak in a load of laundry.
Off-topic. I think Tony Soprano is in some sort of dream sequence. Uncle Junior didn't really shoot him.
So, I've got pressing, real-life issues going on, but I just wanted to say don't forget about me if I seem to suddenly disappear from Cyberspace for a while.
Say hello. Chit chat. Send me jokes. (I might get them after I smash someones face in with my computer. In jail.)
p.s. I went shopping for a new bathing suit this weekend and found a cute one (I have a thing for cherries), and I'm currently in love with the Fig and Brown Sugar scented candle from Bath and Body Works. I'm a slave to the merchant-man.
Note to self: Learn when to say when.Have a nice weekend, and keep your fingers crossed for "Arrested Development's" pending deal with Showtime. The only thing marginally interesting coming up (t.v.-wise) is the return of "The Sopranos".T.V. is bleak. Let's watch movies. And nap.
